The Sex Worker’s Guide to the Apocalypse (SWGA) explores these questions and provides a radical survival toolkit, created by and for sex workers navigating an increasingly precarious world.

Through essays, how-to-guides, suggestions, and stories, our U.S.-based sex working contributors share the knowledge, strategies, and collective wisdom they’ve gathered while surviving what some might refer to as “The End of the World” (as we know it at least). . Part practical guide and part community archive, SWGA offers tools for staying safe, supported, connected, and resilient, regardless of what comes next. Rather than imagining survival as an individual pursuit, the Guide asks what becomes possible when we look out for one another and build the infrastructure we need together.

Volume One marks the beginning of an evolving project. We’re thrilled to share this first edition and look forward to watching SWGA grow, shift, and expand through future volumes and the contributions of the communities who make it possible.


The Sex Worker’s Guide to the Apocalypse was created in collaboration with Sex Workers Outreach Project Los Angeles (SWOPLA) generously supported by Effing Foundation, Women's Catalytic Fund, Trans Justice Funding Project and individual patrons. 

SWOPLA (Sex Workers Outreach Project Los Angeles) is a peer support organization, run by sex workers and for sex workers with a mission to pursue human rights to bodily autonomy, racial and social justice, and mutual liberation through outreach, education, mutual aid, and political advocacy. SWOPLA's vision is to usher in the reality where all sex workers are valued and respected.
